Jennifer Lopez didn't get to sit back and relax much during her role as Slim in Enough. Instead of having a stunt-double do most of her tougher action scenes, Lopez chose to perform in the film and, according to the 2nd unit director and stunt coordinator, Simon Crane, "She was very keen to do her own stuff and she turned out to be incredibly good. In the end she did about 95% of the stunts you see in the film."
To make her stunts even more believable and potent, Lopez was trained in the potent fighting form of Krav-Maga, which is considered to be one of the world’s most effective and deadly martial arts, and was originally developed by the Israeli military in part to give their female soldiers the ability to defend themselves in even the most excruciating hand-to-hand combat.
Lopez received her training in Krav-Maga from martial arts expert Wade Allen, who worked closely with Crane. Crane previously trained Angelina Jolie for her physically demanding role in "Tomb Raider." In explaining the philosophy of the system to Lopez, Allen drove home one consistent point: "In Krav-Maga there is only one rule: use everything you’ve got."
As Lopez put it, "Krav-Maga is about finding the power within yourself and that’s what really transforms Slim."
On the red carpet , Oscar veteran Hilary Swank mentioned she was keeping fit with Krav Maga. The name sounds a little like a spell from the Harry Potter series, but the health and fitness nut seems to be expanding her workout repertoire.
To see what Hilary has to say about it, just read more.
Hilary explains it like this:
You punch, you kick, you also learn how to get out of a choke hold. I love, love it. The classes seem extremely physical and are designed to create fatigue using stress drills that help students learn and react under adverse conditions. Sounds really fierce to me.
Matt Damon is keen to revisit the Bourne film franchise - in a decade. The actor has played on-the-run assassin Jason Bourne in three hit action movies, and isn't ruling out a fourth film.
He says, "If (director) Paul Greengrass calls me in 10 years and says, `I have a way to bring him (Bourne) back,' well, yeah, absolutely."
The actor has laughed off claims his training for the Bourne left him with a deadly weapon for a body. The actor learned the Israeli martial art Krav Maga - but he insists you needn’t just watch, you can learn it too. Called KRAV MAGA, the style combines techniques from numerous martial arts and boxing, and is growing in popularity because it offers a high-intensity cardio workout. Krav maga was originally used by the Israeli army and has since been adapted by law enforcement agencies and elite military units around the world!
Angelina Jolie (as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider) have embraced the training merits of Krav Maga.
In the April 6th issue of Us Weekly Magazine, papparazi snapped a shot of Krav Maga Lead Instructor Wade Allen (shown far left) with Angelina Jolie on the set of her new film, "Salt." Wade Allen, a senior Krav Maga Instructor and Force Training Division Instructor, coincidentally portrays an NYPD officer.
